Step 1: Call the network provider you would like to go with and ask them to generate a Unique Porting Code (UPC).


Step 2: Most providers offer a doorstep service. If not, go to the nearest mobile shop and complete the Porting Form and Customer Acquisition Form.


Step 3: Send a message PORT<Space>Mobile Number to 1900. If you live in Jammu & Kashmir, then you’ll have to call 1900 to verify identity.


Step 4: Submit a passport-sized photograph, identity proof and address proof. Unless you’re a post-paid customer, then a copy of your last bill should do.


A new SIM card will be handed over to you right away. Replace the old with the new when the former stops working automatically….
